Do you know the classification of automobile glass?

Auto glass is rarely paid attention to, but it is an important safety equipment in the body structure and an indispensable accessory in the car body. It mainly plays a protective role.

Automotive glass is divided into: laminated glass and tempered glass according to process attributes.

1. laminated glass

Laminated glass is a glass product made by bonding two or more layers of glass with one or several layers of transparent PVB film. When the laminated glass is broken, the glass fragments still adhere to the PVB without peeling off or hurting people, which is safe. The front windshield is mandatory by the country to be laminated glass.

2. Tempered glass

Tempered glass refers to high-strength glass formed after high-temperature treatment and then rapid cooling. It has high mechanical strength, good thermal stability and good safety performance. When tempered glass is broken, it fragments into honeycomb-shaped obtuse-angled small particles, which is not easy to hurt people. Car side windows and rear guards are generally made of tempered glass.

Automotive glass is divided according to functional attributes: coating, HUD, sound insulation, hydrophobic, dimming, heating, etc.

1. Coated glass

Magnetron vacuum sputtering technology is used to coat 9 to 20 layers of metal compound films with a thickness of 50-300 nanometers on the inner surface of the automobile glass to reflect solar energy.

Performance: Reflects infrared rays, making the car cooler, reducing the use of air conditioners in summer and more energy-saving; reducing glare and improving the safety of driving at night; reducing ultraviolet damage to car interiors and extending service life.

2. Soundproof glass

Adding high-damping sound insulation material to the PVB interlayer can absorb noise in the most uncomfortable audio range (1000~4000HZ), which can achieve noise reduction of 5-10db.

Performance: Noise reduction and sound insulation.

3. HUD head-up display glass

The optical system is used to project the car's operating information through the front windshield to a position 2-3m directly in front of the driver. Combined with the vehicle's optical system, it brings a rich driving experience such as navigation and image display.

Performance: During driving, the driver can know vehicle information without having to lower his head, can focus on observing road conditions, and respond more promptly to external emergencies.

4. Hydrophobic glass

The sol-gel method is used to form a thin film of fluorine-containing compounds on the glass surface, which increases the contact angle of the glass with water and causes water droplets to slide away quickly.

Performance: Improves driving visibility in rainy days, making the field of view clearer; making it easier to remove dust, mud, car wax, oil and other pollutants on the glass.

5. Switchable glass

Add a PDLC film between two pieces of glass, apply a voltage to the lead-out, and adjust the voltage to arrange the particles in the PDLC film in a certain direction to change the transmittance of the glass.

Performance: Personalized adjustment of glass transmittance to improve user experience; effectively improve privacy and ensure user privacy.
