Details of insulating glass - warm edge strips

Insulating glass According to different needs, a variety of glass can be selected to make insulating glass. For example, insulating glass composed of laminated glass has better sound insulation effect; a hollow structure with three glasses and two cavities is more energy-saving. But what determines their sound insulation and energy-saving effect is the 2CM (common specifications as an example) warm edge spacer in the middle of the glass.

The origin of warm edge strips

In the 1980s, a glass company in the United States successfully developed insulating glass super spacers. The spacers do not contain any metal materials and are made of 100% polyester elastic microporous structure materials. They can be used in insulating glass intermediate spacer systems for doors, windows, and curtain walls.
Warm edge strip definition
It refers to a cavity made of composite materials and stainless steel materials, used to fill desiccant, isolate the original piece of insulating glass, and play a supporting structural product. It is a partition material used between double-layer glass, and its purpose is to achieve the function of thermal insulation and noise reduction.
Warm edge strip performance
As we all know, fire resistance, when encountering a fire, closing doors and windows is the only way to prevent the spread of fire. The fireproof performance of doors and windows is directly related to the life of the person involved. If it can block the fire for a while, it will buy the person involved valuable time to seek help. To put it simply, when the warm edge strip is heated, the heat passing through 1 square meter per second is 0.15 watts, while the traditional aluminum alloy passes 160 watts per square meter of heat per second. The two data are very different.
Anti-condensation performance. In winter, when the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor is large, it is hot inside and cold outside, and condensation will appear on doors and windows. This is because the thermal conductivity of traditional aluminum spacers is very good, causing the heat on the metal to be lost quickly. Therefore, when the doors and windows are warm and cold at the same time, the water vapor in the air is easier to liquefy into small water droplets, which become dew after gathering. Warm edge strips have low thermal conductivity, so the heat energy on the metal is not easily lost. The temperature difference between the two sides of the door and window will not be too large, and condensation will not occur.
